MY TOP FIVE TEATOXING ACTIVITIES
A PURE AND SIMPLE LIFE OPENS UP MILLIONS OF POSSIBILITIES.
As many of you know, the team here commited to a 28 day tea detox this month. It has been an incredible adventure so far, slightly scary and uncomortable at the beginning. I’ve said this before but for the month of March the challenge was to quit sugar (even fruit!), wheat, dairy, soy, nuts, seeds, coffee and alcohol. I’ve eaten pure, whole and organic foods and drank our Detox AM and PM blends daily to aid the detoxifying process.
My friends were incredulous when I announced that not only was I going pure with my diet, I was also giving up booze! Some people even said “What do people do when they don’t drink?”.
It turns out not drinking, and thereby using it as a means to connect with others and socialise, you find the time to do all the things you actually love doing! When your tank is full, you can give to others and your interactions are full of joy and love.
Here are my top 5 things to do while detoxing!
1. Relax, pamper yourself
Given my lifestyle, salon visits are frequent. Admittedely, more often than not, it is not the most relaxing experience as I’m running from set to photoshoot and then to an event.
So when I get to go to the salon JUST FOR ME, I take it. Massages, nails, facials. Yum.
Having a soak in the tub with some amazing bathsalts and crystals is another favourite.
2. Get out in nature
You might not know that I have the greenest of thumbs. It’s one of my secret powers. I love gardening and being in nature. Inner city life doesn’t always allow for the kind of extensive gardening I enjoy, but in South Yarra I can always find places to relax and enjoy nature solo or with company.
Dirving out to the 1000 Steps in Ferntree Gully is a must, and closer to home visiting the Royal Botanical Gardens is a regular happening.
3. Get your adrenaline pumping
A detox is the perfect time to do all the things you love or have wanted to do! I love to go out paddleboarding, ice-skating and golf.
My son Jake, the king of the extreme, had to take it to the next level and go sky diving.
4. Spend time with loved ones
Take your kids (or fur kids) for a walk, talk to them, go on a picnic! Human connection is the most important thing in this world, don’t ever forget that or take it for granted. Turn off all electronics and play cards or board games. You’ll thank me later, I promise.
5. Go out to eat
It is a common misconception that it is hard to eat pure and clean when you go out. No matter where you go, steak and veg are the healthies options. While we cannot guarantee how something is cooked or what ingredients are used when someone else prepares our meal, there are places that hold themselves to a very high standard.
Use a detox to slow down your life, get out, live and also tick things off the bucket list!
